The Orangerie
Fragrant, Cyclical, and Alive
A lushly verdant salon for conversation and community, where ivy creeps low across the soft earth like a living rug. Anchored by a sprawling mock orange that blooms in early summer, its heady fragrance fills the space like perfume on a silk handkerchief. This is a garden of seasonality and scent — a place to remember that joy is not constant but cyclical. Beauty, when allowed to rest, returns stronger. Here, we practice fair share: delighting in abundance and trusting the earth’s rhythm to restore. Come gather in The Orangerie for tea, for laughter, for dreams spoken aloud.
Bunny’s Garden
Untamed. Unbothered. Unapologetic.
This is the garden that grows with minimal interference—our wild room, alive with memory and mystery. At its heart stands the massive stump of a tree that once towered over Misselthwaite Manor, its canopy shaping what could—and could not—grow below. Now softened by a veil of white-and-green vines, the trunk remains as a living monument: to what once was, and to what had to fall for the light to reach us.
Named for Bunny, a fiercely independent Silky Terrier whose quiet strength once saved a life, this garden honors resilience, authenticity, and the art of knowing when to leave things (or aloof puppies) be.
The Green Court
Shared, Sustained, and Sovereign
A court of cultivation—four raised beds arranged like castle keeps, each crowned with vegetables grown for nourishment and for joy. Removable chicken wire walls form a gentle fortification: not to conquer nature, but to converse with it. The harvest is protected, not hoarded. This is not a garden of exclusion, but of negotiated peace.
Here, we grow together. Hands in the soil, stories on our tongues, laughter rising like steam from compost. The fountain at the center gently babbles while tomatoes stretch skyward, basil spills over its borders, and kale ruffles in the breeze like a silk cravat.
The Green Court is a classroom, a cauldron, a council. Where food is politics, and planting is protest. Where neighbors become kin, and abundance is a collective act. Food grown in this garden is shared with our neighbors during our pay-what-you-can family style community meals.
Come to work. Come to witness. Come to share in the feast we grow together.
A Room of Belle’s Own
Hidden, Fierce, and Free
Tucked behind an overgrown, thorned rose bush lies a secret garden room—a place for solitude, story, and strength. An antique wrought iron chair waits in the shade, inviting you to retreat, read, and remember yourself. This is a sanctuary for reflection and restoration, for tending the inner garden that so often goes overlooked.
Belle’s Room honors the quiet necessity of privacy and pause, a nod to every woman who ever needed a corner of the world to herself. Feminist not in theory, but in practice: here, rest is resistance. Softness is strength. And beauty is not ornamental—it’s essential.
Step lightly. Speak softly. Stay as long as you need.
